What if I could tell you you could save at least $780 a year and buy exactly the same things. No product swapping exactly the same purchases. Various telco or other providers have rewards programs. We have started using one that offers 5% off the cost of purchases at major retail stores. So for a spend of say $300 pw on food and fuel with a 5% discount that is $780 per year!!

How to:
1. Buy the e-gift card it is important to pay via direct deposit so you don't pay fee's and lose the benefit of saving your 5% in the first place.
2. They email you the code and pin
3. Use your code and pin at the register just like cash

Now we have got into the habit of once a week buying our e-cards so a $300 card costs $285. If I have money left over the next week then you can buy less the following week. Another idea is to continue to purchase your weekly e-card budget every week and then at Christmas time you can use your cards to pay for Christmas.

To keep track of your cards just download a gift card tracker app and you are good to go.

So for the effort of once a week purchasing the e-cards you are saving 5% every time you shop. Then add on any other discounts you may get by shopping smart and watching for specials. So an example Hard and Soft Taco shells usually $6.75 with the weekly special and the extra 5% you can get them for $2.85. that is a massive saving of $3.90.  If you are purchasing fuel with a discount coupon you are then getting 5% of that as well. Plus the other stores that offer the discount for automotive, variety and entertainments and you can save thousands.

5% may seem small but over a year it adds up. That saving could be a great holiday for the family, savings or take the pressure off those big annual bills.

Every little bit counts :)
